Software can be annoying, especially when it hogs resources or performs in manners we do not condone. This is a reminder of some common replacements.

Drivers are annoying. Well, outdated drivers, and incorrect drivers, are annoying. Many of the places claiming to offer drivers require users to register, or provide invalid drivers that cause further corruption.

Almost forgot about this old project, still pending a decent “latest version”. Jahshaka is open source video editing software. It is trying to be a replacement for AfterEffects from Adobe. Version 3 is supposed to be a big checkpoint to lift the project off the ground and deliver to the masses, it seems.

Terragen comes in a couple of flavors – old school (version 0.9X) and new school (version 2.X). The difference is obvious when you peruse the renders and movies from various users. It is used to create realistic background scenery and landscapes.
