Why am I posting old medical articles?

Over the years, I’ve read a lot of things about cures, fixes, advances, etc., all supposed to be fixing problems with human health. And then they drop off the radar. We never hear anything about them again.
AND YET we still hear of people dying due to things we just read about cures for.
WTF?
So are the articles lying? Are the scientists lying? Are the journalists and reporters lying?
Why is it that people claim to have a fix and yet it isn’t implemented. People claim 2-4 years of further research and then they’ll have it to market. And yet here we are, going blind, or deaf, or dying from cancer, or HIV, or Ebola. What happened to the cure we just read about? How can we dig that article up and print it out and show the doctor what their peers claim to exist?
This is my contribution to the tracking of that information. Of course, I’m not doing a good job at it – there is a lot going on everywhere and this blog is just a side hobby, but in case this crap happens to me, I want to be able to quote some published scientific “facts” when the doc says I’m screwed.
